A MAMMO CARE LAUNCH 2007 |
 |
The
Share
A MammoCare Project of the Zonta Club of Metro-Ortigas and
the
Valencia-Cortez Foundation was successfully launched on April 27, 2007,
along with the unveiling of logo plaques of both organizations at the
entrance of the mammography room at the same facility. Guests include
Tina L. Santos, MD, Chairman and President of the Philippine Foundation
for Breast Cancer, Inc. and Roland L. Cortez, MD, Chief of
the
East Avenue Medical Center.
In Southeast Asia, the Philippines has the most number of breast cancer
cases with an estimated 14,000 in 2006 alone; many of these cases are
from indigent families who cannot afford a mammogram which can detect
early stages of the disease.
The Share
A MammoCare Project
consists of a card with a P500.00 gift
certificate which, when purchased from the organizations, sponsors a
beneficiary to a free mammogram at the East Avenue Medical Center. The
proceeds from the sale of the cards funds the chemotherapy programs of
indigent breast cancer patients. |

| GIVING TO
THE WASTE
MARKET 06 |
east axis creative
fulfilled
one of its advocacies by being at the Waste
Market on
December 8, 2006.
The
Waste Market was an event organized by the City of Makati in
collaboration with Philippine
Business for the Environment, Ayala Foundation,
National
Solid Waste Management Commission and DENR, from 8am to
3pm at the Goldcrest Parking Lot, Ayala Center, Makati City.
The
event is held every month and was organized to help promote recycling
in the Philippines. Accepted are traditional (plastic, paper, board,
boxes) and non-traditional waste (electronics, computer parts, CDs) by
its accredited industrial recyclers HMR, TIPCO
and Polyplastic.
The
event organizers believe that by selling “junk” or
still useful waste to accredited recyclers, we lessen the amount of
trash that goes directly to landfills or illegal dumping/recycling.
What better way to dispose of your junk and at the same time help
protect our environment, indeed. |
